Public swimming pools, spas and special use pools are regulated under the authority of Chapter 3749 of the Ohio Revised Code and Chapter 3701-31 of the Ohio Administrative Code.
All public swimming pools and spas are required to be licensed and inspected by the local health department. Inspections include evaluation of water chemistry, proper disinfection and filtration equipment operation, and safety concerns. The Ohio Department of Health reviews plans for new swimming pools / spas to determine compliance with construction design standards.
